Saturday was another busy day at Comic Con. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Chris and the crew at the Gentle Giant booth and I have to tell you, it was fantastic! Surrounded by amazing people and FABULOUS exclusives! I can’t even begin to describe how difficult it was not to geek out! Plus, I got to hang out with some kick ass cosplayers like Ainsley and Daniel.
So before I start throwing all the photos at you, let me start by telling you a little about some of the exclusives they had.
Batman First Shot Prototype Super Powers SDCC 2016 EX Jumbo Figure:
This Batman First Shot Prototype San Diego Comic Con 2016 Exclusive Jumbo Figure was developed using state of the art 3D technology. Gentle Giant Ltd. has taken an original mint condition Super Powers Batman and created a highly accurate digital model with the use of 3D scanners. This digital model was then sized to 12” scale and printed using top of the line 3D Systems printers. These pieces are then used in manufacturing to produce extremely accurate scaled replicas, right down to Batman’s signature fabric cape!
Captain Phasma Episode 7 Mini Bust 2016 SDCC Exclusive:
Gentle Giant Ltd. is honored in bringing collectors all-new characters from Star Wars: Episode 7, The Force Awakens. Gentle Giant Ltd. announces the next character from our amazing mini bust line, with the First Order Captain Phasma! With her striking silver armor, and black cape, this imposing officer leads the First Order Stormtroopers to bring the end to the New Republic! Digitally sculpted using the top of the line 3D technology, and cast in the highest quality polystone, each mini bust is hand-painted, and comes hand-numbered with matching certificate of authenticity. May the Force be with you!
Farmboy Luke ROTJ SDCC Ex 2016 Jumbo Figure:
Inspired by the vintage Kenner Star Wars figures, Gentle Giant is proud to bring you the Tattooine, Luke Skywalker, in jumbo size! This San Diego Comic Con Exclusive is based off of the Return of the Jedi backer card figure. Digitally scanned from original 3 ¾” Kenner figure and reproduced in 1:6 scale, no detail has been overlooked. Roto-cast and injection molded from durable plastics, this fully-articulated jumbo figure includes a faithfully re-produced lightsaber that extends from his right arm. The Tattooine version of Luke was previously released for Star Wars A New Hope. However, this version was re-released on Return of the Jedi backer cards. Also, fans around the world found that there were variations on Luke’s hair color, which made the “Yellow Hair” and “Brown Hair” versions even more popular. To further capture the vintage feel, Gentle Giant has packaged this figure with a Return of the Jedi inspired backer card featuring original photos and artwork. Designed with the collector in mind, the figure comes in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition figure.
I also have to talk about Mr. Neville Page and his stunning art. He is raising awareness for people with albinism in Tanzania and you can learn more at Under The Same Sun. You should also check out Neville’s page. If you don’t know who he is (which I am sure you do), you will with the first photo on his site.
There are so many more to talk about, but this post would be pages long. I will have all of their info listed below, so please check them out! The quality of these pieces are so amazing, you won’t be disappointed!
Here are some of the photos from the booth appearance. I had such a good time and can’t wait to see what Gentle Giant has in store for us next!
